Smoothie recipes to supercharge your kid’s day

Smoothies can bring so many rainbow nutrients into your child’s diet.

Smoothies are such a great way to get lots of healthy nutrition into our children and can be taken anytime of the day, whether it’s setting them up to a good start in the morning with lots of wholesome gut friendly ingredients and carbs for long lasting energy, an afternoon snack to help curb the energy slump or as a wind down bedtime drink to get the body ready for sleep. I really encourage you to have fun whilst making your smoothies and get the children involved, this is something they can do pretty much on their own (with very little mess) and enjoy the independence by popping the ingredients in themselves. Then sit back and enjoy watching what colour their special potion smoothie becomes.

By adding just one scoop of Rainbow Roots to your kid’s smoothie it automatically supercharges it with 20 organic fruits and veg, provides them with their daily pre and probiotics to help with their gut health and fuels their growing bodies with 2grams of protein.

Here are my top 3 recipes right now which my kids are loving and the different times of day to take them for maximum health benefits.

Start the day well with our Purple Dragon smoothie

Morning.

Protein at breakfast is crucial for stabilizing blood sugar, preventing energy crashes, boosting all-day fullness, curbing cravings, and kickstarting muscle repair after overnight fasting, providing sustained energy and focus compared to sugar-heavy breakfasts that cause spikes and slump. Our Rainbow roots blends has 2grams of protein per serving which provides the perfect amount for little tummies to start the day.

Our Purple Dragon Recipe.

  • ¼ cup of organic oats.

  • ½ a cup of frozen blueberries.

  • 1 banana.

  • 1 tbsp. peanut butter.

  • 1 cup of your milk of choice, we find almond milk works best.

  • Then add your scoop of Rainbow Roots blend.

Whizz it all up, serve in your kid’s favourite cup and enjoy.

Keep hunger at bay with our Jungle Juice

Afternoon Snack.

Lots of children start to get hungry again around 3pm and experience that mid-afternoon energy crash, this tends to be the time lots of children experience meltdowns and feel dis-regulated which is why it is so important not to reach for the sugary snacks or anything highly processed. Instead, try this super tasty and quick to make tropical smoothie - full of flavour and provides lots of healthy fats which help stabilise energy and stop any blood sugar spikes from happening, keeping them full, calm and energised until dinner time.

Our Jungle Juice Recipe.

  • ½ cup of frozen pineapple.

  • Half an avocado.

  • 1 tbsp of chia seeds.

  • 1 tbsp of lime juice.

  • 1 tbsp of honey.

  • Splash of orange juice.

  • 1 cup of your milk of choice, we find coconut milk works best.

  • Then add your scoop of Rainbow Roots blend.

Whizz it all up, serve in your kid’s favourite cup and enjoy.

Winding down with our Bedtime Smoothie.

Bedtime.

We all know how important sleep is for the whole family and a bedtime ritual which includes a special night time smoothie for kids is such a wonderful way to help promote better sleep by providing calming nutrients like tryptophan, magnesium, and melatonin from natural ingredients. These help to relax muscles and regulate sleep hormones, while also stabilizing blood sugar for uninterrupted rest and helps to avoid those middle of the night wake ups.

Sweet Dreams Recipe.

  • 1 banana.

  • ½ a cup of Greek yoghurt.

  • 1 tablespoon of honey.

  • 2 tbsp of flax seeds.

  • Pinch of cinnamon.

  • 1 cup of your milk of choice, we find organic oat milk works best.

  • Then add your scoop of Rainbow Roots blend.

Whizz it all up, serve in your kid’s favourite cup and enjoy.
